Woman Catches Husband D£filing 11Year-old Step Daughter on Matrimonial Bed

 A 46-year-old Zambian has been arrested in Lundazi District after his wife caught him in the act of defiling her 11-year-old daughter, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The suspect, Wedson Khonje, is alleged to have sent his 31-year-old wife, Meya, to the market around 19:00 hours on Sunday, August 31, to buy beef. Shortly after she left, Khonje lured the 11-year-old girl – his stepdaughter – into his bedroom with the promise of money.

Once inside, he undressed the minor and began sexually assaulting her. Believing his wife would be gone for some time, Khonje took his time inflicting pain and trauma on the child.

However, Meya returned home earlier than expected after purchasing the meat. She went directly to her matrimonial bedroom to inform her husband that she had bought what he requested.

To her horror, she found Khonje completely naked, with her equally unclothed daughter under the bedsheets.

Traumatised and in shock, Meya immediately rushed to Lundazi Police Station to report the crime.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed that officers were dispatched to Chinyumba Compound, where they arrested the suspect. Khonje is currently behind bars awaiting formal charges.

The victim has been taken to a medical facility for examination and is receiving psychosocial support. Police say Khonje will be charged with defilement under Section 138 of the Zambian Penal Code.

Local authorities and child protection advocates have condemned the incident, reiterating calls for communities to break the silence around sexual violence and report perpetrators to law enforcement agencies.

The case is expected to be brought before the Lundazi Magistrate’s Court once investigations are complete.
