Three Arrested in Chitipa for Illegal Possession of Hardwood Timber

Police in Nthalire, Chitipa District, have arrested three men for allegedly being in possession of hardwood timber without a valid permit.

The suspects—Kalito Sibale (30), Gift Msongole (32), and Forgive Lweya (32)—were apprehended on August 2, 2025, at Kapirinkhonde Market.

Authorities found them with 124 planks of hardwood loaded in a Fuso Fighter truck bearing registration number BLK 9452.

The trio is expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the illegal possession and transportation of forest products.
