Police in Kasungu have arrested four members of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) in connection with an alleged plot against Chikondi Kampachike Chisale, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) parliamentary candidate for Kasungu Central.

According to police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the suspects have been identified as Austin Mvula (AFORD spokesperson for the Central Region), Shephard Bokosi (AFORD parliamentary candidate for Kasungu West), Joseph Zimba, and Maliko Chilita.

Kachikho said Mvula and Bokosi were found in possession of 10 bullets, believed to be part of the items stolen during the alleged plot. Zimba and Chilita were reportedly found with Chisale’s hand bag and K1.8 million in cash, which had also gone missing.

The suspects are expected to appear in court today to face related charges.
