Man Arrested in K15.9 Million ADMARC Heist on Likoma Island

Police at Likoma Island have arrested Gabriel Yohane in connection with a break-in at Chizumulu  Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) depot, where thieves stole K15,990,100 cash.

According to Likoma Police publicist, Andrew Kusimbwa, the incident occurred on the night of September 7-8, 2025, when the thieves removed an iron sheet from the wall behind the depot’s shade to gain entry. The stolen cash was from maize sales meant for safekeeping until collection by the regional team.

The police have confirmed they arrested the suspect in one of the rest houses in Likoma, where he was keeping the money and they have managed to recover K11,638,000.

The suspect comes from Mgawi Village, Traditional Authority Tambala in Dedza District and he is expected to appear in court soon.
