The World Bank Group has firmly denied any involvement in a recently published opinion poll related to Malawi’s upcoming general elections, scheduled for September 16.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, the global financial institution clarified that it is not connected to any entity named the “Center for Public Opinion and Policy,” which had circulated an election opinion poll.

“The World Bank Group is an apolitical organization. We do not participate in, comment on, or engage in any political processes or activities, including elections,” the statement read.

The Bank urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious of misleading claims by organizations or individuals falsely presenting themselves as affiliated with the World Bank.

Malawi is set to hold its general elections next Tuesday, during which registered voters will elect a President, Members of Parliament, and Ward Councillors.
