Former Zodiak Broadcasting Station presenter Priscilla Kayira is facing widespread criticism after sharing her views on Malawi’s 2025 presidential election results on social media.

Priscilla posted a cartoon on her Facebook page depicting Malawians jumping from a pot of boiling water into a frying pan filled with hot oil. She explained that the boiling pot represented the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), while the frying pan symbolized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

In another post, she added: “Simple math; lol DPP is not better than MCP, Tivutikabe, komabe congratulations.”

The posts came just hours after the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared DPP’s Peter Mutharika the winner of the presidential election.

Her comments quickly drew a flood of reactions, with many DPP supporters criticizing her for what they saw as disrespecting the electoral outcome. Some questioned why she did not speak out during MCP’s administration, saying: “Where the f**ck were you when MCP was oppressing us?”

Following the backlash, Priscilla deleted the posts and later clarified her position: “I am not a politician but it seems the politicians are not happy with my previous posts. I am a citizen who has rights and also freedom of speech.”

Despite her clarification, debate continues online, with social media users divided over whether her comments were a legitimate exercise of free speech or politically insensitive.
