Two ‘Witch Doctors’ Arrested in Chikwawa for Ritual R4pe of 12-Year-Old Gir

Police in Ngabu, Chikwawa District, have arrested a witch doctor named Neva Chinamulungu and an accomplice, Maria Dyson (also known as Mponya), for the alleged ritual sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
The district’s police spokesperson, Dickson Matemba, stated that the witch doctor instructed the woman to provide him with a young girl to sleep with as part of a ritual. The purpose was allegedly to restore a “kingdom” that had been taken from the woman in 2022, a request with which she complied.
Matemba confirmed that the witch doctor sexually assaulted the child on two occasions in August and again on September 28 of this year. Medical examinations conducted by the Ngabu Rural Health Department confirmed that the girl had been raped.
Neva Chinamulungu, 48, is from Tsabeta Village, and Maria Dyson, 35, is from Mponya Village. Both individuals are from the area of Senior Chief Ngabu in the district and are expected to appear in court shortly to face formal charges.
