Manhunt Launched in Mponela After 48-Year-Old Man Strangled to Death

Police in Mponela, Dowa District have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of killing a 48-year-old man, Zintambira Sauli, from Vinyasi Village in the area of Senior Chief Chakhaza.

According to Mponela Police Station spokesperson Macpatson Msadala, the deceased was living alone at the time of the incident and was known to have a bag of Urea fertilizer and 30 kilograms of soya beans in his possession.

The case came to light after the suspect’s father was alerted by his daughter, who reported seeing the suspect carrying a bag of fertilizer, soya beans, and a blanket believed to belong to the deceased. When questioned, the suspect fled, evading arrest.

A postmortem examination conducted at Chizolowondo Health Centre confirmed that Sauli died as a result of strangulation.

Police investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect.
