Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwira, has expressed disappointment over how some individuals are spreading news about the alleged destruction of houses and property at Kamuzu’s palace in Lilongwe.
Speaking to local news media, Mibawa Television, the spokesperson said she would like to see a special team dispatched to the palace to investigate the extent of the damage and verify whether the reports are true or fabricated.
She emphasized that Kamuzu’s palace was built by Kamuzu Banda himself, and the MCP would never be involved in its destruction.
“If there is anyone who truly loves this country and President Chakwera, someone who accepted the election results in good faith , they would not allow such a historic house to be destroyed,” she said.
She appealed to the public not to spend money on renovations without a thorough investigation. She demanded that a qualified team assess the reported damage.
If it is confirmed that the MCP is responsible, then the party should be held accountable so that justice is served.
