Four-Month-Old Baby Dies After Mother Falls During Fight in Ntchisi

A four-month-old baby, identified as Alexander Chimpeni, has died in Chiwembu 2 Village in Ntchisi District after his mother accidentally fell on him during a fight with another woman.

Ntchisi Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Salome Zgambo, confirmed the incident, saying it occurred when the baby’s mother, Fatsileni Macheso, aged 24, was involved in a physical altercation while carrying her child on her back.

“During the scuffle, Macheso fell to the ground and accidentally landed on the baby, who died on the spot,” explained Zgambo.

Police say the body of the infant has since been taken to Ntchisi District Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Authorities have since urged members of the public to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid physical confrontations that could lead to loss of life.
