The spokesperson for the President of Malawi, Shadric Namalomba, has commented on the apology issued by MBC Director George Kasakula. Namalomba stated that the President, Peter Mutharika, will decide how to respond to the apology.

Speaking also as the spokesperson for the DPP party, Namalomba said he was not surprised by Kasakula’s apology, noting that many already knew the actions of Mutharika were significant.

“Mutharika has written letters to MBC, Macra, and Misa Malawi requesting that Kasakula refrain from criticizing him, but these appeals were ignored. The President even raised these concerns in meetings, pointing out that MBC’s actions under Kasakula were inappropriate, yet no attention was given to these complaints,” Namalomba said.

According to Namalomba, the apology by Kasakula today shows that he admits wrongdoing. He urged MBC’s disciplinary committee to investigate Kasakula’s conduct and take appropriate action.

“As a party, we also believe it is too late to save Jerusalem. Kasakula did not perform his duties professionally, and the MBC disciplinary committee should examine his work,” he added.

Today, Kasakula apologized to President Mutharika for all statements he made about him on MBC during the campaign period. The apology was delivered on an MBC video broadcast.
