Fire Guts House in Nkhata Bay, Property Worth K25 Million Lost

A fire has gutted a house belonging to Fatima Kilembe in Nkhata Bay District, resulting in the destruction of property valued at approximately K25 million.

According to Nkhata Bay Police Public Relations Officer Enala Kalua, the incident occurred while Kilembe was away running business errands.

“She left her two daughters at home, who later saw smoke and flames coming from the house. They quickly alerted well-wishers, but efforts to contain the fire were unsuccessful,” Kalua said.

Though no one was injured in the incident, the fire completely destroyed household property. Police say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
