Veteran Malawian gospel musician Lloyd Phiri has shared a heartfelt account of his life, career, and personal journey on his Facebook page.

Phiri, 45, revealed that he was born again in 1997 at the age of 17, and released his first album in 1999. His debut song, “Afuna Ulape,” quickly became a nationwide hit, topping the MBC Entertainers of the Year chart. Since then, he has released seven studio albums, two of which were recorded live on stage.

Family Life:
Phiri married in 2006, but the marriage ended in 2012/2013. He is father to a son, Junior, from that marriage. For the next nine years, he focused on prayer, personal reflection, and helping others in the studio, rather than releasing his own albums or organizing shows.

In 2022, Phiri remarried Elinat Phiri, with the wedding taking place on 15 October in Lilongwe. The couple now has a daughter, Amanda Happiness Phiri, who is two years old.

Career and Challenges:
Reflecting on his life, Phiri admitted that he has faced many hardships, including false rumors and misunderstandings spread by a few people, suggesting he married multiple times or engaged in unhealthy habits. He urged fans to seek the truth directly from him rather than believing unverified reports.

He expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, including fans, radio and TV presenters, and those who have prayed for his ministry and music career.

Message and Prayer:
Phiri closed his post with a prayer, asking God to bless families, provide for the needy, strengthen Christian businesses, and heal the sick.

“Through all the challenges, I remain a Christian, serving God and continuing my music ministry. None of this would be possible without your support,” Phiri wrote.
