A 15-year-old boy, Chikondi Samison, has died after a Toyota Dyna lorry he boarded overturned near Engen Filling Station at Senga Bay in Salima.

According to Salima Police public relations officer Rabecca Ndiwate, the accident occurred on yesterday, around 4pm.

Ndiwate said the driver of the Toyota Dyna 2-tonner lorry, registration number CP 117, was coming from the direction of Salima heading to Senga Bay with nineteen passengers on board.

“Upon arrival at Engen Filling Station, the front left side tyre burst, and the vehicle went to the extreme left side where it overturned,” she said.

Due to the impact, Samison sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby clinic, while two others sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at Salima District Hospital.

Samison came from Chinkhule Village, Traditional Authority Kambwiri, in Salima.
