The woman, visibly emotional, begged not to be released, explaining that life behind bars offered her a sense of safety and stability she could not find on the streets.
Her plea left the courtroom silent, drawing attention to the harsh reality many homeless individuals face that freedom without shelter or security can be far more terrifying than confinement.
