Police in Kasungu have arrested four men for allegedly trafficking and possessing indigenous tree species without a permit.

The suspects are Solomon Zulu, 32, Benjamin Phiri, 31, Davie Banda, 27, and Junior Banda, 21, all from villages under Traditional Authority Chisinga.

Kasungu Police Assistant spokesperson Chifundo Nedi said the suspects were intercepted on 15 October 2025 near Chisinga Border after officers from Kasungu National Park found a Mitsubishi Canter loaded with indigenous tree logs.

The suspects later confessed that the trees had been cut from Kasungu National Park. Nedi has since urged the public to report illegal logging activities to help protect the environment.
