Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Director of Women for the Southern Region Maria Mainja on Saturday cheered the family of late veteran broadcaster Hope Bemberezi Chisanu in Machinjiri Township in Blantyre.

Mainja was accompanied by Joseph Mandala, Regional Governor for DPP wing in United States of America and some top officials in the party.

The fierce woman who championed the comeback bid for President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika also donated assorted items to the family.

Speaking after the ceremony Mainja said Chisanu served the party well during his life time.

“Hope Chisanu sacrificed everything in serving the party and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and we thought it wise to come here to cheer his family, celebrate his life,” said Maninja while promising to fulfil the dream of late Chisanu toward his son.

“Hope died while trying to take his wife and son to America for school. Let me make it clear here that President Mutharika will make sure that Hope’s dream is fulfilled. We will also make sure that Chisanu’s wife benefits from small loans that Mutharika is offering to women or even get a job,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the family Alex Achalume Chimwala hailed Mainja and DPP women from the support rendered to the family.

“As a family we are deeply happy for the support from DPP and we are further appealing to the President to take responsibility of the family of Chisanu.

“Hope Chisanu left behind a wife and two Children. There is no one to support the family and we appeal to the President through you Mai Mainja to support the family. Our sister Vivian is a graduate and if there is a chance to offer her an employment that will be great to us as a family,” said Chimwala.

The visits reached a climax following the live performances from Apostle King James Phiri, Pastor Favour, Phalyce Manganda and Apostle Makawa.

Hope Chisanu died last year while in USA.
