Newly Elected MPs Begin Swearing-In at National Assembly in Lilongwe

The swearing-in of successful candidates from the recent parliamentary elections has begun at the National Assembly in Lilongwe.
The ceremony will be conducted in two phases today. The first phase, which ends at 12:30 p.m., will see 55 Members of Parliament (MPs) take their oaths. The second phase will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will involve 56 MPs.
Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Lovemore Chikopa, is presiding over the ceremony and administering the oath of office.
