Just a week after humbling FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 3-0 in the TNM Super League, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have once again triumphed over their rivals , this time with a 1-0 victory in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Promise Kamwendo scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute, sending the Nomads into the final where they will face Silver Strikers.
Following the victory, Wanderers Board Chairperson Thom Mpinganjira has directed that the players and technical panel share the gate revenue from the match as a token of appreciation for their continued hard work and impressive performances.
Although the exact amount realized from the match is yet to be disclosed, Mpinganjira’s gesture aims to motivate the team ahead of the upcoming final.
Just last week, Mpinganjira rewarded the squad with K20 million for their emphatic 3-0 league win against Bullets.
Meanwhile, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda admitted disappointment, acknowledging that fans are frustrated with the team’s back-to-back defeats.
“We know our supporters are disappointed because we didn’t deliver what they expected. We must go back, work harder, and bounce back stronger,” said Mponda after the match.
