Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Detached Tyre in Kasungu

An unidentified pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle at Binyukani Village along the Jenda–Kasungu M1 Road in Kasungu District.

According to Kasungu Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Chifundo Nedi, the accident occurred when a vehicle traveling from Jenda towards Kasungu lost one of its tyres, which detached and hit the pedestrian walking on the roadside.

“Following the impact, the victim sustained internal injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nkhamenya Community Hospital,” Nedi said.

Police have launched investigations to trace the vehicle involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, authorities are appealing to members of the public to help identify the deceased, whose body is currently being kept at Nkhamenya Community Hospital mortuary.
