MERA Dismisses Fake Fuel Distribution Report

The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has dismissed as fake a social media report claiming to show the country’s fuel distribution plan.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, MERA clarified that it has not released any such plan.
“We have not yet received any plans for today or tomorrow from fuel companies,” the statement read in part.
The fake report, which carried MERA’s logo, alleged that fuel distribution would take place on 12 November 2025 in several locations across the country.
MERA has since labelled the report “FAKE” to warn the public against misinformation.
