Rising artist Jassamah has called for fairness and transparency in local music competitions after alleging that rapper IKK unfairly changed the results of his K1 million “Ndabwera Challenge.”
Speaking to us via phone, Jassamah said he was initially informed that he had won the competition, only for IKK to later change the outcome.
“IKK told me that I had won, but he asked me to understand that instead of receiving the full K1 million prize, he would give me K100,000 because the rest was supposedly for social media promotion. I refused, and soon after that, he announced Rosetta as the winner,” explained Jassamah.
He added that his concern is not just about the money, but about ensuring that artists are treated fairly in the industry.
“People with money often take advantage of us upcoming artists to fulfill their personal interests. That’s what I’m speaking against,” he said.
However, IKK has dismissed the allegations, saying Jassamah failed to follow the competition’s rules.
“The challenge was supposed to start and be tracked through TikTok, but he didn’t follow the proper procedure. That’s why we selected someone else as the winner,” IKK clarified.
The controversy has sparked discussions online, with fans calling for more transparency in local music challenges.
