Police in Chitipa have arrested two men for allegedly being in illegal possession of 130 litres of fuel without a permit at Kawale Village in Senior Chief Mwaulambya’s area.

Chitipa Police Public Relations Officer, Gladwell Simwaka, identified the suspects as James Mkhondya, 24, and Patrick Kasimba, 22. The two were apprehended around 3:00 a.m. following a tip-off from well-wishers during routine police patrols in the district.

Simwaka has warned the public against engaging in unlawful activities, stressing that the law will take its course against anyone found violating it.

He added that the suspects will appear in court soon to answer the charges once police complete the necessary paperwork at Chitipa Police Station.
