Six Arrested Over Murder of KUHeS Lecturer Dr Victoria Bobe

Police have confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with the murder of Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) lecturer, Dr Victoria Bobe, who was shot dead at her home in Chigumula Township, Blantyre, last month.
According to police, the suspects are Raphael Maslanyama Mano (35), a former police and intelligence officer from Gaza Province in Mozambique; Issa Ali (47) of Machemba Village in Mangochi; Santos Chamamba (54) of Bililinyu Village in Nsanje; Maxwell Eliya (52) of Chimombo Village in Nsanje; Charles Chikafa (62) of Mkwinda Village, Chigalu in Blantyre; and Peter Chimenya (50) of Kazembe Village in Chiradzulu.
Police say the six suspects have confessed to their roles in the killing, which occurred on November 17, 2025, at around 11:00 pm.
During the attack, the assailants allegedly stole a MacBook Pro laptop, an iPad, and an NBS POS machine from the victim’s home.
In a statement signed by national police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo, police say investigations are ongoing to track down two remaining suspects and recover stolen items, including a rifle believed to have been taken to Mozambique.
Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.
