A 55-year-old man, identified as Spencer Wizlam, has been found dead after allegedly taking his own life by hanging in Kasungu District.
Kasungu Police deputy publicist Miracle Hauli said Wizlam, a retired teacher, had a history of mental illness. Police records indicate that Wizlam used to collect his pension on the 14th of every month, after which he would often leave his family and stay away from home for several months.
On 14 December, Wizlam collected his pension as usual and later went missing from his home. Investigations later revealed that he had rented an abandoned house near Pa Mazi market in the district.
