A court in Neno has sentenced a 45-year-old woman, Idah Robert, to 48 months in prison after finding her guilty of biting off her friend’s finger during a fight over a man.
Neno Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Rabecca Msoliza said the court heard from Sub-Inspector Charles Nkhoma that the incident occurred on the 16th of last month.
According to the prosecution, it was discovered that Idah Robert and the complainant, Gloria Donda, were both travelling with the same man, which led to a physical confrontation.
During the fight, Robert bit off Donda’s finger. Medical examinations later revealed that the finger had to be amputated due to the severity of the injury.
First Grade Magistrate Margaret Khobiri sentenced Robert, who hails from Donda Village in Traditional Authority Chekucheku in Neno District, to four years’ imprisonment.
