The Malawi Prison Service (MPS) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that suspects in the murder of Dr. Victoria Bobe are being held at Chichiri Prison.

MPS spokesperson Steve Charles Meke described the claims as misleading, stressing that none of the suspects are inmates at the facility. He said all prisons across the country maintain adequate security measures and continue to operate professionally in service to Malawians.

Meke urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and instead seek clarification from relevant authorities to avoid confusion caused by false reports.

Police have arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of Dr. Bobe, who was a lecturer at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) and worked at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. On Wednesday, the suspects were taken to the late Dr. Bobe’s home, where they allegedly demonstrated how the crime was committed.
