Police in Chiradzulu District have arrested two men in connection with the assault of a woman who was attacked by relatives following her husband’s suicide.

The victim, Enelesi Kachere (41), lost her husband Graciano Yohane (45) of Jumbe Village, Traditional Authority Likoswe, on November 17, 2025.

According to Chiradzulu Police spokesperson Hubert Mwangoka, Yohane was found hanging in his bedroom after a reported domestic dispute. A postmortem examination later confirmed that he died from suffocation.

Mwangoka said relatives of the deceased blamed Kachere for her husband’s death, after which they assaulted her and damaged her house.

Following investigations, police arrested Thoko Chinkhali (27) and Jacob Dominic (31), both from Mlambula Village in the same Traditional Authority. Other suspects involved in the attack are still at large.

The two suspects are expected to appear in court facing charges of acts intended to cause grievous harm, contrary to Section 254 of the Penal Code.
