Police in Chiradzulu have arrested a 45-year-old man, Gift Sankhulani, of Ngalawesa Village under Traditional Authority Sandrack, who had been on the run for two months for allegedly attacking his wife with a panga knife.

Chiradzulu Police Public Relations Officer, Hubert Mwangoka, said Sankhulani was arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Ndata Trading Centre.

According to Mwangoka, the incident was reported on October 10, 2025, by Grace Nazombe, who said her sister, Senzani Nazombe, 37, sustained serious injuries to her left upper arm after being hacked by her husband over suspected infidelity.

Police say the suspect admitted to committing the assault and is expected to appear in court to answer a charge of acts intended to cause grievous harm, contrary to Section 254 of the Penal Code.
