16-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide in Machinga

A 16-year-old girl, identified as Livines Chiyipira, has committed suicide at Nselema in Machinga District.
The incident occurred on December 18, 2025, at around 05:00 hours.
According to the deceased’s mother, Mrs Mercy Denja, on December 17, 2025, at around 05:00 hours, Livines quarreled with her younger sister, which escalated into a fight.
Although the fight was stopped, Livines reportedly remained angry and withdrew from talking to anyone.
At around 11:00 hours, she allegedly swallowed unknown tablets and collapsed.
She was immediately taken to Chikweo Health Centre, where she died while receiving treatment.
A postmortem examination conducted by a medical practitioner at the health centre revealed that death was due to poisoning.
Livines Chiyipira hailed from Mvoniha Village, under Traditional Authority Ntumbwinda in Machinga District.
