American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, turned himself in on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, to begin serving a three-month (90-day) jail sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for violating the terms of his supervised release.
He arrived at the federal facility in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, at the prearranged surrender time of 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The sentence stems from probation violations tied to incidents following his earlier federal racketeering case.
The Brooklyn detention center currently houses high-profile detainees including Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Luigi Mangione.
Tekashi was accompanied by online personality Adin Ross, who livestreamed moments from the rapper’s final hours of freedom before he reported to authorities.
In the livestream, friends gathered around Tekashi as he prepared to turn himself in, and social media creator Stephen Deleonardis was seen removing his ankle monitor
His attorney says Tekashi expects to be held separately from the general population at the detention center.
The rapper has said he aims to complete this part of his sentence and then resume his music career once released.
