Lilongwe police have arrested two men in connection with the killing of a security guard at Tsoka Market following a dispute over money.

Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu identified the suspects as Maxwell Gwedemula and Chikumbutso Fulailo. The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

According to police, the victim, Lloyd Tsosa, had received K4,000 from his employer to purchase a raincoat when the two suspects, who also worked for the same employer, began mocking him over the amount. The exchange reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, Gwedemula allegedly stabbed Tsosa multiple times in the stomach, head and chest, causing fatal injuries. Tsosa died at the scene.
