ESCOM Confirms Death of Two Linespersons on Duty in Lilongwe

The Electricity Supply Cyorporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has confirmed the death of two of its employees following a tragic on-duty incident at Nsaru in Lilongwe last evening.

In a statement released last evening, the power utility said the two linespersons were attending to a fault when the incident occurred, resulting in their electrocution while carrying out their duties.

ESCOM said its immediate priority is to support the bereaved families and to provide counselling to colleagues affected by the tragedy.

Meanwhile, the corporation has launched an internal investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
