Ghanaian authorities have arrested 53 Nigerian nationals following an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected cybercrime hubs in the Greater Accra Region.
According to government sources, nine of the suspects are believed to be key organizers of the alleged cybercrime network, while 44 others were rescued and are being treated as possible victims of human trafficking and cybercrime exploitation.
The arrests were made during simultaneous raids conducted by a joint security task force, which also recovered 62 laptops, 52 mobile phones, and two pump-action guns from the premises.
Authorities said the operation forms part of broader efforts to safeguard Ghana’s cyberspace and international digital reputation, amid growing concerns over online fraud.
The government has also warned foreign nationals and job seekers to remain cautious of fake job offers and quick-money schemes, which are often used to lure victims into cybercrime operations.
Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected as authorities determine the roles of those arrested
