Malawian beloved singer Temwah has sent shockwaves through the music scene after announcing a sudden break from music.

In a press statement shared on her official Facebook page, Temwah’s management revealed that the singer is stepping back from all music releases and music-related activities with immediate effect. The statement says the move is intentional  meant to reset, recalibrate, and protect the integrity of the art  with activities expected to resume in December 2026.

The announcement has caught many by surprise, especially as it comes just days after Temwah was spotted in the studio recording a song with Botswana’s goddess, Lioness Ratang.

As of now, the real reason behind the break remains unknown, leaving fans and industry watchers wondering whether this is a strategic move or a deeply personal decision yet to be explained.

Meanwhile, well-known media personality and music enthusiast Super DT has weighed in, offering a cautionary perspective. He said: “Get wise wisdom from your elders, not your friends. Taking a break from music is like abandoning a trademark… abandoning a brand… abandoning your fans.
“You have everything an artist would want  a voice, rhythm, perfect melodies, great appearance.
The showbiz law of abandonment says when you come back, you might not find anybody or anything waiting, so tread very carefully.
People love you, so why break down?”, said Dt.

For now, Temwah remains silent  but even in silence, she has everyone talking.

All eyes are now on December 2026 to see whether this pause becomes her boldest comeback yet.
