Lilongwe Teacher Allegedly Commits Suicide Amid Police Probe

A primary school teacher from Lilongwe has allegedly taken his own life after learning that police were looking for him in connection with an alleged illicit relationship with his wife’s younger sister.

The deceased, Henderson Fanizo, was a teacher at Magada Primary School in the Kamanzi Education Zone. Reports indicate that his wife, who is also a teacher, discovered the alleged affair and reported the matter to the Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for Kamanzi Zone.

Following the complaint, the PEA summoned Fanizo to the office, but he reportedly failed to honor the call. The matter was later referred to the police for further action.

Police then launched a search for Fanizo, but he went missing. He was later found dead, with indications suggesting that he may have ingested poison.

Fanizo’s burial is scheduled for today at his home village of Dzinja, under Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe District.

Police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter as investigations continue.
