11 Year-old Girl Defil3d in Maize Field – Suspect On Run

An 11-year-old girl from Malika village in Choma’s Macha chiefdom has reportedly been defiled by a male person only identified as Lweendo while weeding in a maize field.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on 22nd January 2026, around 14:00 hours, with the victim complaining of a painful private part.
Gathered information indicates that the suspect approached the victim while she was working and expressed his intention to have carnal knowledge of her.
When she refused to comply, the suspect allegedly overpowered her and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene, with the girl relaying the ordeal to her aunt after she returned home.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namalongo, notes that a Medical Report Form was issued to the victim, who was referred to hospital for medical examination and treatment.
He says a docket of the case has been opened, updating that no arrest had been made at broadcast, with the suspect on the run.
Namalongo assures that the Zambia Police Service remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators of sexual crimes are brought to justice.
