Man to spend 6 years in jail for having sex with mentally ill woman in Nkhotakota

The Nkhunga First Grade Magistrate Court in Nkhotakota has sentenced 33-year-old Andrew Kheza to six years’ imprisonment with hard labour for having sexual intercourse with a mentally ill woman.
Nkhunga Police Publicist Andrew Kamanga said the court heard that Kheza committed the offence on February 3, 2026, at Mulawuzi Village after taking advantage of the victim while she was walking alone.
He pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in court.
First Grade Magistrate Kingsley Buleya handed down the sentence to deter similar offences, police have urged parents and guardians to ensure proper care and protection of vulnerable people in society.
