Police in Ntcheu have arrested a 45-year-old man, Light Lester, on suspicion of killing his mother after she allegedly did not cook corn for him.

Ntcheu deputy police spokesperson Beatrice Mlauzi said the incident occurred yesterday at Sande Village, Traditional Authority Mkutumula, in Ntcheu District.

According to Mlauzi, Lester’s mother had cooked corn and eaten it with other relatives while Lester was away. When he returned and discovered that no food had been reserved for him, he became angry and confronted his mother.

The argument escalated, and Lester allegedly stabbed her in the ribs, causing her to collapse.

Well-wishers rushed the victim to Kalimanjira Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
