Shock as Baby Boy Found Dumped in School Toilet in Mchinji

Learners at Kakoma 2 Primary School in Kamwendo, Mchinji District, were left shocked yesterday after discovering a baby boy dumped in one of the school’s toilets.

According to a teacher at the school, Patrick Katema, pupils alerted school authorities after making the discovery.

“It was the students who informed us about what they had found,” said Katema.

Pastor Fanikile Banda of Kakoma CCAP Church, under whose management the school operates, described the incident as deeply painful.

“This is very heartbreaking. The child could have grown up to help the country and serve the church,” said Banda.

A community member, Mr. Gulupu Kamwendo, condemned the incident, describing it as shameful and tragic for the area. He called on law enforcement officers to investigate the matter and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Health authorities at the hospital confirmed that the baby was born at full term.

The body of the infant was later retrieved from the toilet and will be buried.
