Information reaching this publication indicates that police in Dedza have shot dead two suspected robbers at Linthipe 3 as they allegedly attempted to steal maize from a moving vehicle.
The incident reportedly occurred after detectives boarded the vehicle at Chimbiya and locked themselves inside as part of a planned operation.
Upon arrival at Linthipe 3, the vehicle was allegedly attacked by suspects armed with panga knives and wooden sticks who forced their way inside.
Police officers are said to have opened fire during the confrontation, fatally wounding two of the suspected criminals.
Dedza District Hospital Public Relations Officer, Mwayi Liabunya, confirmed that the bodies are currently being kept at the hospital’s mortuary after the suspects were pronounced dead on arrival.
