Teacher Nabbed in Balaka for Allegedly Stealing 130 Bags of Cement Worth K3 Million

Police in Balaka District have arrested a 41-year-old teacher at Mthumba Primary School, Chancy Mundira, on suspicion of stealing 130 bags of cement valued at over K3 million.
Balaka Police spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha, confirmed the incident.
According to M’bumpha, Mundira is alleged to have stolen the cement, which was meant for the construction of classrooms under the Malawi Reform Programme project being implemented by the government with funding from the World Bank.
Mundira, who hails from Chimphonda Village in Traditional Authority Nsamala, Balaka District, is expected to appear in court soon.
