Malawian music circles have been thrown into controversy after a newly released song by KineoMadness titled “Kwa Neba” was removed from YouTube following a copyright complaint by an upcoming artist known as Chygo Adz.
According to reports, Chygo Adz alerted YouTube that the song allegedly borrows heavily from his 2024 track “Yaya”, which appeared on his project Hit Season 2. The claim prompted the platform to take down the video, a move that has since sparked debate among fans online.
In a statement seen by Face of Malawi FM, Chygo Adz expressed disappointment over the matter, saying it was painful to see an artist he once admired allegedly reproduce his work.
“I’m not here to throw dirt on anybody’s name, but it’s honestly heartbreaking to discover that an artist you once looked up to can sample your song and take almost everything the key, the progression and the arrangement like it was theirs,” he said.
The upcoming artist added that he poured passion into creating “Yaya” in 2024, making it frustrating to hear what he believes is a very similar sound in a record released two years later.
“At the end of the day, you can listen to both songs yourself and judge,” he added.
The situation has quickly become a hot topic in Malawi’s entertainment circles, with some fans siding with Chygo Adz while others defending KineoMadness and calling the accusation premature.
As of now, Madness Entertainment has not yet issued any official response regarding the allegations, despite the music video already gaining significant traction before it was taken down.
The silence from the label has only fueled more speculation online as fans wait to hear KineoMadness’ side of the story.
Meanwhile, many listeners are now comparing the two songs to determine whether the similarities are coincidence, inspiration, or outright copying.
