Police Investigate Death of 30-Year-Old Woman Found in Garden in Balaka

Police in Balaka have launched an investigation after a 30-year-old woman, identified as Ethel Chikanda, was found dead in her maize garden at Mangani Village in Traditional Authority Nsamala in the district.

According to Balaka Police Station spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, the incident happened yesterday.

M’bumpha said around 06:00 hours, Chikanda left her home to work in her maize garden located about one kilometre away but did not return home.

Concerned relatives later organised a search for her at around 18:00 hours and she was eventually found dead in the maize garden around 20:00 hours with bruises on her body.

Her body has since been taken to Balaka District Hospital where it is awaiting a postmortem.
