22-Year-Old Man Drowns in Mpheta Irrigation Canal in Machinga

A 22-year-old man has drowned in the Mpheta irrigation canal in Machinga District.
The deceased has been identified as Fredson Kabudula from Mpheta Village under Traditional Authority Mposa.
Machinga Police spokesperson Western Kansire confirmed the incident, saying Kabudula, who was an epilepsy patient, left his home for an unknown destination but did not return.
According to Kansire, Kabudula’s body was later discovered floating in the irrigation canal.
A postmortem examination conducted at the scene established that the cause of death was suffocation secondary to drowning.
