The Zambia Police Service has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that a man in Chingola was causing men’s private parts to disappear through physical contact.
According to police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi, the incident was reported to Chingola Central Police Station on March 14, 2026, around 16:40 hours.
A 45-year-old man told police that he and members of the public had apprehended a 61-year-old suspect, accusing him of tapping men on the shoulder and making their private parts disappear.
The alleged incidents were said to have happened earlier the same day around 15:30 hours in Chingola’s Central Business District, with five men claiming they experienced the same strange sensation after being tapped by the suspect.
However, police said the suspect denied the allegations, and a thorough search found no suspicious items.
Authorities also conducted voluntary checks with the five complainants, while respecting their privacy, which confirmed there was no physical harm.
Following a full investigation, the suspect was released after police found no evidence to support the claims.
Police have since urged the public not to spread unverified claims or resort to mob justice, reminding citizens to report suspected incidents through legal channels.
