The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has formally asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate claims that the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) awarded a fuel supply contract to Zunneth Sattar.

CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa says the alleged move raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability.

He argues that awarding contracts to individuals under investigation for corruption undermines trust in public institutions.

Namiwa has since called on authorities to refrain from engaging in business with any entities linked to Sattar.

He further stresses that such actions contradict the government’s stated commitment to fighting corruption.

According to Namiwa, the development risks weakening public confidence in ongoing anti-graft efforts.

In response, ACB Acting Director General Gabriel Chembezi says the bureau has begun reviewing the complaint and will provide feedback to CDEDI by the end of business on Wednesday.
