Concerned civil servants have announced that they will proceed with planned demonstrations in Lilongwe on April 4, 2026, over alleged mismanagement of the Public Service Pension Trust Fund (PSPTF).
In a statement signed by their chairperson, Gerald Chirombo, the group said the demonstrations will go ahead as scheduled and could escalate into a vigil at PSPTF offices if authorities fail to address their concerns.
The group emphasized that the planned protests will only be called off if there is a clear commitment from relevant authorities to refund the funds in question.
The concerned civil servants are demanding accountability and transparency in the management of pension funds, particularly following concerns linked to the controversial Amaryllis Hotel deal.
