US Judge Orders Trump Administration to Reinstate VOA

A judge in the United States has ruled that the government of Donald Trump acted illegally by shutting down Voice of America (VOA) last year.

In his ruling, Judge Royce Lamberth ordered the government to reopen VOA and reinstate all its journalists within one week.

VOA, a radio and television broadcaster, was established during World War II to provide updates on the war to American audiences and international listeners.

However, shortly after being re-elected last year, Trump ordered the closure of VOA, accusing the outlet of biased reporting.

The decision was challenged in court by three VOA journalists, including Patsy Widakuswara, who has welcomed the ruling.
