“As FINCA Malawi we are very happy as to how the Malawi team fared at the competition and we promise we will continue supporting the Malawi Spelling Bee,” said Nyangulu.

On his part Malawi Spelling Bee Chief Executive Officer Lewis Mbaula hailed the Malawi team for the gallant fight.
“The competition was very tough, but our learners performed well and we were able to compete at a high level against other countries. Finishing third in Africa is a significant achievement,” he said.
He then revealed that the team has been invited to the 2026 World Spelling Bee competition set for July in China.
The competition brought together 72 spellers from 12 African countries, making it one of the toughest contests on the continent.
